How do I turn off/fix a faulty smoke detector?
I have a 120-118-28 model FireX smoke detector which has been giving me 2 quick beeps a minute followed by flipping out. According to the manual, I am not on fire but the detector is faulty. How do I shut it off &/or fix it so I can go back to sleep?
All the batteries have been replaced in the last 12 hours and the problem persists. The power to the detectors has been turned off/on via the circuit breaker to no avail. A can of compressed air has been used to clean the sensor and that may have done it...I guess we'll see!
Usually if you just twist the detector it will come off of the mounting bracket. You can then disconnect the wiring.
